Art has always been my favourite subject, and pastime. I have always had a keen interest in art because I love how there are no boundaries as to what you can create. I also use it as a way of expressing myself, as I often just spill my thoughts onto the paper. My preferred medium is graphite, because I find it to be one of the only mediums which I can use and completely relax with at the same time. However, I also like to use watercolours and acrylics to create more colourful works. I currently study GCSE art and design at The Elton High School, and I wish to continue this at A-level.
Peter Arkwright
Pete is a painter and draughtsman who trained at the Royal Academy Schools, London W1 in the early 1960's. He has a preference for working in oils, but sometimes uses other media. In is portrait work, his concern is mainly with the personality. His landscapes usually depict overall effect of light on the subject and his figure work is often to do with the interaction of people within groups.
Jo Parker
Jo studied art at the Bolton School of Art in the early 80's and has a firm grounding in Fine Art. These days Jo likes to incorportate textile into her work and builds an image onto canvas using plaster and vintage fabrics to create very textured work that has been inspired by the local scenery. Working in this way produces very tactile pieces that reflect the rugged out door scenery.
John Harding
John is an illustrator and graphic designer who studied at Salford School of Art and Design in the 1950's, before embarking on a career in advertising and print design. His lifelong love of rural landscapes and the natural environment is reflected in much of his work, particularly in unique pen and ink pieces. John adopts a very eclectic approach, working in a variety of categories and mediums: preferring the subject to determine the method, rather than impose a rigid formulaic style.
